Where can I get map software (Australia) for a Magellan handheld GPS? My husband has a Magellan handheld GPS. He is having trouble getting suitable map software for motorbike riding in the Victorian State Forrest. I need help with my magellan GPS? I have a magellan mastro 3225 and each time i think im turning off the GPS by pressing the power button, im actually putting it in sleep mode so my power gets wasted right away. how do i properly turn it off? im tired of the battery dead everytime i want to use it.
Will any SD card work with a Magellan GPS? I have an Explorist 400 and it just says unlimited SD expandability...but when I took out the Magellan SD card and put in a 1 Gb regular one (not Magellan brand) it won't detect it. Is this some sort of scam by Magellan to make sure you buy SD cards from them? Or are they somehow different cards? Or do I need to format it in the GPS to prep it for use with the system.

I just purchased a Magellan 4040 GPS, does anyone know if you can update the points of interest n this thing? I was testing it out in my area and the POI are way off. For example there were a lot of resturants showing up that no longer exisit in my area ( and haven't for 4-5 years) or have changed names 2-3 times since the name they are calling it. Magellan GPS tracker? I bought a Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS tracker yesterday. I noticed on the box it tells you were resturants are when you drive past them. It does it for gas stations and banks but not for resturants. Does it have to be programed to show up resturants on the map as well?

Magellan Roadmate 1412 GPS not working? I recently purchased a Magellan Roadmate 1412 GPS. I charged it up three hours already, it is difficult to turn on even after pressing one to two seconds, the Magellan screen shows up but the progress bar does not move. Do I need to register it first and activate the GPS with serial number before it works or what? do I have to do anything with the CD first? or do I need to return it?

Do any Magellan portable GPS units have predictive text? Not sure if its called predictive text, but its along the same lines as what most cell phones do.
I want to create a Google Map and Upload it to my Magellan GPS. I also want to distribute that map (free)? The software that comes with the GPS device is pretty basic. It seems like it only has major highways on it. The route I am creating is part on-road part off-road. National Geographic provides TOPO maps but they are expensive and really don’t fill the bill either since I need streets in my map occasionally. With Google maps (or Yahoo maps for that matter) I could use the satellite imagery to help me create the route, but then I want to upload the finished route to my GPS. It would be a plus if I could then post the route I make on a website. The GPS is a Magellan Triton 500, if that makes any difference. I am reluctant to spend another couple of hundred on software packages only to find they don’t help. I've used Google Earth too, but again don't want to get into the premium service. There has to be a way to create this easily without spending more than time.

Magellan GPS/Google Earth? There are extra numbers in the coordinates I got from Google Earth than I can put in my Magellan Explorist 200. GE gives 38 09' 54.36 N, but GPS only would let me put in 38 54.360 N. Did I drop the correct coordinate or should I try something else?
Anyone have a GPS system with traffic alerts that actually work? I bought the Magellan GPS with traffic and it doesn't give me a single alert! I-25 can be at a stop for miles and it doesn't notify you anything is wrong. No construction alerts either and I pass through the ones at I-76 and 225 and again at I-70 and Ward. I'm wondering if Tom-Tom or Garmin work any better or if it's just Denver area that sucks for alerts.

My Magellan 4250 Gps will not sync with my phone.? I synced my phone with my gps but after i took it out of range i tried to re-connect the two and now the pairing screen won't stay open. Its an iphone. The gps won't search for the device. The screen closes as soon as I bring it up.

magellan gps? i was on vacation and my gps system went haywire. I lost all of my data which was all of my previous destinations that I needed for my job. Does anyone know how you get more detailed maps in the Magellan eXplorist XL GPS? I want to get my son a handheld GPS for Christmas so he will have maps when he travels in the Military but the unit I am testing only has my region loaded in it. It won't help him one bit to have Oregon maps if he's stationed somewhere else (which he will be). I don't know anything about adding maps into the units. I am sure it's as easy as hooking up a cable but: Where do you get the maps to begin with? Is there a download site? Do you have to buy the maps? Where would you buy them? How much would they cost?
