Magellan RoadMate 300 Problems?

Whenever I put in an address, the Navigation System either says that there is no such address or when it says.... EX: Turn left but the machine says to turn right and the little picture is always going south. It also says my map is over 1 year old. How can I get rid of all these problems? Thanks, Rom
