Is Garmin or Magellan the best GPS with rural areas or small roads?

I heard the Magellan was better but is Garmin really that bad with small roads?

1. I am not familiar with Garmin but my Magellan has never let me down and I have used it all over the US.
2. Garmin and Magellan both use the same map data provider, NAVTEQ. However, Garmin updates their maps much more often. They sell map updates every year for their GPS receivers. Magellan, on the other hand, only sells updated maps every 2-3 years.
