magellan VS tomtom VS Garmin which of these three do you think is the best? GPS?
which of these three companies do you think is the best? and why? i am thinking about getting one of the $200 brands but i don't know which one would work best for me. thanks in advance also, i live in NJ so which company do you think has the most detailed map for that area?

- They all use the same chips for the GPS receiver, so that's not an issue. Magellan and Garmin use one set of maps that is considered somewhat better than TomTom. But TomTom has a way of updating maps from its site that the others don't. If a road is closed, for example, you can block it out of a TomTom GPS permanently (or as long as you want) but not on the others. There are tradeoffs. Text-to-voice can be very useful, because it calls out the street names on turns rather than just a distance. Mio has it in a $200-250 unit, but not the others.
