magellan gps accessories

Does the TomTom or Magellan Maestro Navigation system need a subscription?

Do either need a monthly/annual subscription to use or are they free other than the actual unit cost.

1. no i don't think so but very good question coz i was going to get one for myself and i thought it was free i could be wrong.
2. No. They don't require any subscription. The reason is GPS sateliites are owned by US Goverment. Therefore, they are available to public since public/tax payer/you paid for them already.
3. Neither of them require subscriptions. They are ready to go right out of the box
